This solid sterling silver medal features an image of St. James the Apostle (Santiago Apóstol) considered the patron saint of Spain. The color image has a protective covering. Inscribed below the image is his Spanish name.
According to the Synoptic Gospels, St. James was the brother of St. John the Evangelist, who were both the sons of Zebedee. Both of the sons of Zebedee were fishermen, called by Jesus to become fishers of men at the beginning of His public ministry. St. James the Apostle's martyrdom is recorded in the Acts of the Apostles at 12:1-2.
